Belgium, wishing to provide humanitarian assistance to Kyiv, sent medicines, the expiration date of which expired three weeks after receipt. Ukraine will destroy the “delay” party at its own expense, the author of the article in the Belgian newspaper Laatste nivs suggested.
According to the text of the material, we are talking about 280,000 packages of medicines and 140,000 syringes, which is 20% of the total amount of medicines supplied and 10% of the total amount of aids.
“The Ukrainian side knew about it. They were able to get acquainted with the list of funds and accepted our proposal, ”the Belgian Minister of Social Affairs and Health quotes the publication. Frank Vandenbroek.
It should be noted that, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), published on October 10, 2011, donated drugs must be usable for at least a year after delivery to the country to which the aid is sent.
According to Laatstenives, the lists sent to Kyiv contain tens of thousands of drugs, the Ukrainian government “does not have time” to check the expiration date of which.
“They assume that they are being sent goods with a long shelf life,” said the newspaper’s source in the EU, responsible for coordinating humanitarian aid.
As the author of the article suggested, now Ukraine will have to pay for the destruction of expired medicines.
