Belarusian authorities blocked the election account of the enemy Lukashenko

The headquarters of the opposition candidate for the post of President of Belarus Viktor Babariko announced the blocking of the politician’s election account. The staff learned about this when trying to pay from these funds.

Employees of the state-owned Belarusbank said that all account transactions have been seized, RIA Novosti reports. However, they did not provide any documents confirming this fact.

On the account there were more than 100 thousand Belarusian rubles (approximately 2.9 million rubles). The headquarters believes that the arrest does not allow to fully realize the suffrage. They want to complain to law enforcement agencies about the illegality of such a ban.
However, the arrest will not affect the organization.

Volunteers, members of initiative groups who do not receive any remuneration work at the headquarters and at pickets to collect signatures. All collected signatures will be properly verified and submitted to the relevant election commissions, the organization emphasized.

According to, about 150 paintings with a total value of approximately $ 20 million were seized in Belarus as part of criminal cases involving Belgazprombank. Earlier, President Alexander Lukashenko said that “about 15 people” were detained in a criminal investigation against employees of a credit institution. According to the results of searches at the bank’s head office in Minsk and in a number of other commercial structures, about $ 4 million was seized, which, according to the investigation, was obtained illegally.

Belgazprombank has been operating since 1990, with 49.818% of its shares owned by Gazprom and Gazprombank. For almost 20 years, the organization was headed by Viktor Babariko, who currently claims to be the president of Belarus. In his opinion, criminal cases against bank employees “are of a tailored political nature”. Moreover, Babariko does not pass through them in any status. He also said that the detention of his acquaintances and friends, from whom he claims to have found money belonging to him, was not only a “scare campaign”, but also a “raider seizure” of the bank.

The pressure on the ex-banker is also said in Russia. According to Bohdan Bezpalko, member of the Council on Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation, Belarusian state bodies want to put pressure on important people in the bank’s leadership who will influence Babariko.

The current president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, who has been in office since 1994, reiterated that he would not allow a coup in the country. He said that “individual veterites” want to arrange a “Maidanchik” in the country ahead of the presidential election. Lukashenko assured that they would be brought to life at the right time.

The election of the head of Belarus is scheduled for August 9. Registration of presidential candidates will be held from July 5 to July 14.
