Belarus says nuclear deal with Russia will cool Western rhetoric

Belarus hopes that the agreement with the Russian Federation on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in the republic will cool the bellicose rhetoric of the West and Ukraine. This was announced in the parliament by the Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Khrenin.

“Recently, together with my Russian colleague, a regulation was signed on the procedure for keeping nuclear weapons on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. This is the effective measure that should cool the aggressive character and belligerent rhetoric that comes from our neighbors,” he emphasized.

Khrenin added that this step would also prevent a larger military confrontation. The head of the Defense Ministry added that at this stage, the security measures taken by the armies of Russia and Belarus are sufficient.
