More than 70 enterprises plan to clear mines in DPR in 2023
Mariupol, DPR, March 15, 2023, 14:08 — REGNUM In 2022, the DPR carried out demining work at enterprises with an area of more than 1,100 hectares. This year, it is planned to clear about 70 more factories and combines, but some difficulties have arisen. This follows from the materials of the meeting on the demining of enterprises located in the liberated territories of the DPR, which were at the disposal of IA REGNUM.
This meeting was held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the DPR in March of this year.
So, by the beginning of the year, 20 enterprises on an area of more than 530 hectares were completely demined. Work has begun on several more, but will be completed later. According to the data received from the meeting, technical survey and demining works are planned in the DPR this year at 73 enterprises with a total area of more than 4,300 hectares.
It is worth noting that in 2022 it was planned to clear 68 enterprises with a total area of 5,500 hectares. However, it was possible to completely clear 20 mines with a total area of more than 500 hectares. Some of the facilities that have been cleared of mines will undergo additional control this year.
During the meeting, the working group rejected the proposal to start the work of partially cleared enterprises, as this could pose a threat to the lives of workers.
It is noted that work on technical inspection, identification of explosive objects and demining was carried out by the forces and means of the Representative Office of the Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR.
Among other things, problematic issues related to the lack of owners of some enterprises in the territory of the republic and Russia as a whole were voiced.
As the interlocutor said IA REGNUMfamiliar with the situation, this complexity is due to two main reasons.
The first is the lack of technical documentation for industrial facilities and outbuildings. From the point of view of the safety of sappers, the relevant structures will leave the work “blindly” until “better times”.
The second reason is the so-called action within the framework of the law, when the PMC of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Emergency Situations postpone the fact of penetration into other people’s objects until the last moment without the permission of the owner or management of the enterprise. Usually, in such cases, all entrances around the perimeter are closed and sealed, “Beware of mines” signs are installed, and guards are set up. Such procedures are carried out in order to ensure that a passer-by, a child or one of the former employees who decides to enter the territory is not blown up at unexamined and, accordingly, not cleared enterprises.
Previously IA REGNUM reported an acute shortage of sappers in the Donbass. According to the source, the DPR and LPR are “the most mined regions in the world.”
