Bangladesh hit by worst floods in 122 years


Floods the likes of which have not been seen in at least the past 122 years have hit northeast Bangladesh. This was reported on June 18 by the local newspaper Dhaka Tribune.

It is clarified that the Minister for Disaster Management Enamur Rahman noted that such floods have not been observed in the country for the past 122 years. About 90 thousand people have already been delivered to temporary accommodation centers. Public and private organizations and institutions in Bangladesh are working together to provide people affected by the disaster with shelter, medicine, food and basic necessities.

Military personnel were involved in rescue operations. Enamur Rahman did not specify information about the possible dead and injured.

According to Agence France-Presse, floods in Bangladesh have killed at least 25 people. There has been no official confirmation of this information.
