Armenian Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan spoke about the situation with Armenian mines discovered by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh, write today, November 25, Armenian media.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani authorities said that mines left by the Armenian forces were found near the Karabakh Yekhtsaogh (in the Azerbaijani version – Sarybaba) in the Shusha region, where clashes took place in August this year. According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the anti-personnel mines found on the top of Sarybaba were produced in Armenia in 2021. Baku also accused Yerevan of transporting weapons to Nagorno-Karabakh along the Lachin corridor after the signing of a tripartite statement by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2022, which stopped the 44-day war in the region.
In his microblog in Twitter Edmon Marukyan pointed out that during the September invasion of the territory of Armenia in the Jermuk direction, during a large-scale escalation on the border, Azerbaijan gained access to mines. Then the Azerbaijani side transported them to the Yekhtsaokha region in Nagorno-Karabakh, later claiming they had been found. Marukyan drew attention to the fact that Yeghtsaoh was under the control of Azerbaijan in August, and the mines were announced only in November.
