At a meeting in Istanbul to discuss the extension of the grain deal

Ankara, 9 May 2023, 15:43 — REGNUM In Istanbul, during the negotiations, issues of extending the grain deal, as well as a plan for the evacuation of Turkish ships from the ports of Ukraine, will be considered. This was reported by the press service on May 9 Turkish Ministry of Defense.

According to her, bilateral and multilateral meetings with Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations organized by Turkey will be held in Istanbul on May 10 and 11.

It is noted that during the meetings, the issues of extending the grain deal will be considered, and the issues of drawing up a detailed and safe evacuation plan for the return of Turkish merchant ships and their crews, which are stuck in the ports of Ukraine as a result of the conflict, will also be discussed.

As conveyed IA REGNUMaccording to the official representative of the President of Turkey Ibrahim Kalyn, the chances of extending the grain deal, which expires on May 18, exist. Kalyn expressed hope for the extension of the grain deal and specified that there is every chance for this.

The UN, Ukraine and Türkiye are waiting for Russia’s consent to extend the grain deal. Russia, for its part, demands to fulfill a number of conditions regarding the unblocking of the export of its grain.
