Argentine league game was stopped due to the death of a fan who fell from the stands

A football match between the teams “River Plate” and “Defensa and Justicia” in the championship of Argentina was interrupted by the death of a fan who died after falling from the stands. This was announced on Twitter (blocked in Russia) by the press service of the tournament.

“The match between River Plate and Defensa and Justicia at the Monumental Stadium was stopped in the 27th minute due to the death of a supporter of the local team,” the statement said.

The deceased 53-year-old fan of “River” Pablo Serrano fell from a height of 15 meters and died from his injuries. The police called two friends of the deceased to identify the body. According to preliminary data, the incident was an accident.

Earlier, nine people were killed and hundreds of fans were injured of varying degrees of severity as a result of a stampede during a football match in El Salvador.
