The provision of military assistance to Ukraine by the United States is a road to confrontation between Washington and Moscow. This opinion was expressed by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in an interview with Newsweek magazine.
The diplomat stressed that the “short-sighted” Americans, who want to inflict as much damage as possible on Moscow, significantly increase the risks of an escalation of tension in the region. According to Antonov, the strategy of “sanctions strangulation” of Russia will fail. The ambassador warned that the US policy is fraught with “unpredictable consequences.”
“The thoughtless introduction of restrictions only exacerbates the state of affairs in the US economy. That is, it turns out that in the anti-Russian frenzy, Washington is ready to shoot itself in the foot and dance at the same time. It looks absurd,” Antonov added.
At the same time, the diplomat noted Russia’s readiness to ensure the safety of ships with grain when leaving Ukrainian ports. According to Antonov, Moscow undertakes not to use the gum corridors for the purposes of the special operation.
