On the Kyrgyz-Tajik border again there was a skirmish. This was reported today, June 14, by IA 24.kg with reference to the press service of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the press service, there were no victims from the Kyrgyz side in the skirmish. It is reported that in the Bulak-Bashy area of the Batken district of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, a meeting of border representatives of the two countries continues. It is also attended by the heads of law enforcement agencies of the border regions. The parties are considering the causes of the skirmish between the border posts “Bulak-Bashy” and “Keh”. The first result of the negotiations was the decision to withdraw units from their combat positions.
As of 13.00 (10.00 Moscow time) on June 14, the situation at the border is characterized as tense.
According to the agency, on Tuesday at about 07.00 (04.00 Moscow time), for unknown reasons, a shot was fired from Tajikistan. In response, the Kyrgyz side also fired one shot into the air. After negotiations, the shooting ended. However, after about an hour it resumed. According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side again began a firefight with the use of grenade launchers and mortars.
At 08.10 (05.10 Moscow time) the shooting stopped.
