Russia should not tie politics to commerce, especially when it comes to delivering gas to Europe. Anatoly Wasserman, a journalist, publicist, political consultant, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, shared this opinion in an interview with the Federal News Agency.

Senator Alexei Pushkov said earlier that there were no reasons to resume sending blue fuel to Bulgaria. In his opinion, there is no point in selling energy resources to a hostile state that itself has abandoned them.

Russian State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman believes that Bulgaria may come to its senses and prolong the agreement with Gazprom, which will end at the end of the year. According to him, there is now an interim government in Sofia, that is, major political shuffling is underway.

“The main thing from the position of the Russian Federation now is to show a fundamental refusal to tie politics to commerce. The Russian authorities constantly emphasize that they are fully fulfilling their obligations, and only the West is creating obstacles. Accordingly, it seems to me that it makes sense for us to agree to an extension of the contract with Bulgaria and other countries that find themselves in similar circumstances, ”the journalist said.

The political scientist added that European companies should abandon political troubles and conduct normal business life. Only in this case Russia will not object to the extension.

“Another thing is that the new terms of the contract may provide for some kind of fines for violation of agreements by our partners, so that henceforth they would not be accustomed to lying under politicians in any poses. In principle, it seems to me that when the Bulgarians come to their senses, we should, if not greet with cheers, then at least praise them,” Anatoly Wasserman emphasized.

Economist Boris Pivovar believes that it is beneficial for Europe to cooperate with the Russian Federation on the issue of gas supplies. According to him, Russian companies are able to cover all the needs of the EU countries at a reasonable price.
