“VSP is a very voluntary program below which staff decide to obtain a good severance bundle. At no stage will Amazon India coax or direct its staff to go for the VSP,” the ecommerce main stated in its reply to the labour ministry seen by ET.
“We are offering an extended window to employees till December 6, 2022 in case they choose to revisit or revoke their decision,” it stated. Earlier the window was until November 30.
ET on November 25 reported that the corporate had instructed the labour authorities in Bangalore that it has not sacked any worker, however solely let go of those that opted for its voluntary separation programme accepting a severance bundle.
“Amazon assured that going forward in the event of any workforce optimization, Amazon will keep the labour ministry apprised,” it stated.
As per the response to the labour ministry, Amazon supplied VSP (Voluntary Severance Program) to 2 groups within the HR perform (recruitment and HR providers) in November 2022.
