About 70% of Georgians are against anti-Russian sanctions – poll

The majority of respondents in Georgia (69.8%) believe that the Georgian Dream government did the right thing when it did not join the economic sanctions against Russia, which could cause serious damage to the economy and the population of Georgia itself, according to a sociological study by the International Center for Public Opinion and Business (GORBI).

According to the study, 27.1% of the respondents do not agree with the decision of the Georgian authorities not to impose economic sanctions against Russia, and 3.1% could not answer the question.

In addition, 77.6% of respondents agree with the policy of the Georgian Dream government not to drag Georgia into the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The question was answered negatively by 20.8% of respondents, and 1.6% could not decide on an answer.

Most of the respondents (28.5%) also said that the largest opposition party, the United National Movement, is most interested in opening a second front in Georgia. Mikhail Saakashvili. Further, the respondents noted: Russia and the United States (12.4% each), Ukraine (8.6%), the government of Georgia – 2.1%, the European Union – 1.2%.

To the question, what should be the position of Georgia, if the West requires it to be involved in the conflict, 83.6% of respondents gave a negative answer. At the same time, 11.5% believe that the country may be involved in the conflict, and 4.9% did not answer or did not know the answer.

The poll was conducted on June 2-7 by the International Center for Public Opinion and Business, commissioned by Imedi TV. In Georgia, 1,001 respondents were interviewed by phone, the survey error is +/- 3%.
