The emergency regime canceled in Japan can be reintroduced if the spread of coronavirus infections is again high, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at a news conference on Monday. The press conference is broadcast by NHK.
“There is still the possibility of re-announcing the introduction of an emergency mode at a high infection rate,” said Abe.
The emergency mode was introduced in regions where the number of infections exceeded 0.5 for every 100 thousand people.
The emergency mode in Japan was introduced on April 8, first for the metropolitan Tokyo region and six other prefectures, and then expanded to the whole country.
In May, due to the low number of infected people, authorities lifted restrictions first for 39 prefectures, and then for Osaka, Hy Хgo and Kyoto prefectures.
On Monday, the emergency mode was canceled in the last five regions: Tokyo and the adjacent prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama, as well as in Hokkaido Prefecture.
