A three-year ban on shooting wild boars has been introduced in the Khabarovsk Territory

In the Khabarovsk Territory, hunting for wild boars was banned. The exception is scientific purposes. The corresponding order was signed by Governor Mikhail Degtyarev. According to him, the purpose of such a decision is to restore the population of these animals. After all, wild boars are a source of food for Red Book predators, including the Amur tiger. The head of the region noted that the initiative was approved by the Federal Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology.

Boar shooting will be banned from June 2023 for three years. These terms should be enough to make up for the number, which decreased by 75% from 2020 to 2022 (from 15,650 to 3,834). African swine fever was the main factor in the decline.“, — emphasized Degtyarev in his Telegram channel.

At the same time, he noted that the number of tigers has increased since 2015. Then there were 105 individuals, and it became 140-150. This was the reason for the frequent appearance of predators in settlements. They do not have enough food and the animals go to people in search of food, which threatens the safety of local residents.
