A resident of Yekaterinburg beat his former lover and then strangled her. For this, the man faces up to 15 years in prison, reports the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to investigators, the 34-year-old defendant lived with his 37-year-old partner in a house on Anna Bychkova Street in Yekaterinburg. From 2021 to 2023, the man systematically beat her, causing the couple to break up. The woman, fearing threats from her former lover, contacted a crisis center, whose specialists provided her with temporary housing.
In February 2023, the accused learned the new address of his former partner. Being intoxicated, he came to the door of the apartment and began to threaten to kill. The woman took his words seriously because of the violence previously used against her. After that she moved again.
Two months later, the man continued the pursuit. He found out about the new place of residence of his former lover and, drunk, came there to carry out the threat. At the moment when the woman was leaving the apartment, the accused grabbed her and took her into the apartment. There he struck him on the head and torso, and subsequently strangled him.
The man is accused of committing crimes under the articles “torture”, “threat of murder”, “murder”. He faces up to 15 years in prison. The Chkalovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg will consider the case in the near future.
