An extreme athlete died in Karachay-Cherkessia. He competed in the extreme Alpindustria Arkhyz Race. Several dozen athletes had to overcome the distance of 130 km between the village of Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia and the mountain resort of Krasnaya Polyana.

According to the press service of the republican department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the athlete became ill on the route near the Abishir Akhuba ridge in the Zelenchuk region of the KChR. Information about this was received by the duty shift on the afternoon of September 24th. Unfortunately, the victim could not be saved.

“Rescuers went to the place, transported the body of the deceased man down and handed it over to the police. Rescuers of the Arkhyz search and rescue unit in the amount of eight people, one piece of equipment and two ATVs were involved in the work,” the report says.
