A research and production center (RPC) for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) will appear in Yekaterinburg on the basis of the Universitetsky technology park. A new building with an area of up to three thousand square meters will be built here. Deputy Minister of Industry Igor Zelenkin spoke about this at a strategic session on the development of UAS, a URA.RU correspondent reports.
“It is expected that the research and development center will appear on the territory of the Universitetsky technology park. Capital construction of a production building with an area of up to three thousand square meters is planned. The infrastructure of the technology park will make it possible to meet part of the needs of the residents of the Scientific and Production Center,” Zelenkin noted.
The SPC will begin work with the production of drones for exploring power lines and energy facilities, as well as with the production of unmanned charging stations from overhead power lines for all types of drones and with the creation of an aircraft-type UAS for monitoring terrain and delivering cargo to hard-to-reach areas. It is planned to open by 2026. The project will be co-financed from the federal budget. Potential residents include 20 companies that will be able to engage in the full cycle of drone production – from development to certification and serial production.
In the Sverdlovsk region, a working group was formed on the issue of BAS development under the leadership of the first deputy governor Alexei Shmykov. Officials held two meetings and formed a concept, which must now be approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
