A memorial plaque to Bulgakov was dismantled from the wall of a Kyiv university

A memorial plaque to the writer Mikhail Bulgakov was dismantled from the wall of the building of the Institute of Philology of the Kyiv National Shevchenko University. This was announced in social networks by the Kyiv publicist and blogger Miroslava Berdnik.

“In Kyiv, a memorial plaque was removed from the building of the First Men’s Gymnasium in memory of the fact that the “enemy of the Ukrainian people”, collaborator Mikhail Bulgakov, studied here. There was nothing to discredit the Petliura army and write the “White Guard” she sneered in her post in Telegram.

Ukrainian media report that the local public organization “Expert Corps” became the initiator of the elimination of the commemorative plaque. The representative of the association, Tatyana Shvidchenko, in an interview with the Censor newspaper, said that the demolition of the memorial is a “issue of security and dignity” of the Ukrainian nation. At the same time, one monument and two memorial plaques to Bulgakov still remain in Kyiv. One of them is on the wall of the administration of the Bogomolets National Medical University.
