Violators who do not comply with the law on the prohibition of foreign words will not be punished until amendments are made to the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO RF). This was reported in the press center of TASS PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Ural Institute of Management of the RANEPA Inara Yagofarova.
“The law says that the state language is the language of dictionaries. Those words that are not listed in these dictionaries are not to be used. But, in accordance with the same law “On Advertising”, it does not establish the subject of liability. It turns out that using words in violation of linguistic norms is prohibited, but not punishable, ”said Yagofarova.
She also said that in the explanatory note, which was formed to the law “On the State Language”, the measure of responsibility has not yet been established and the control and supervisory body that will control the fulfillment of the requirements has not been determined. “Recent practice tells us that fines will appear in any case, it only takes a little time. Most likely, changes will be made to the Code of Administrative Offenses. All this should appear by 2025,” Yagofarova said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that prohibits the use of foreign words in the state Russian language. According to him, from now on, all areas where the state language is used should avoid foreign words, the only exceptions are those words that have no Russian-language counterparts. Representatives of the literature were skeptical about the new rules: for example, the writer Alexei Ivanov called the law banning foreign words obscurantism.
