
In Kamensk-Uralsky (Sverdlovsk region) they said goodbye to 24-year-old Andrei Stepanov, a mechanic-driver of the Akatsiya self-propelled artillery unit. He died in July near the village of Staromlinovka in the DPR, when he brought his car into position and was preparing to fire. The soldier was attacked by a kamikaze drone. Andrei Stepanov was buried in the Alley of Honorary Citizens of the Volkovsky Cemetery, the administration of Kamensk-Uralsky reports on the official website.
“A true warrior, protector, caring son, loving husband, happy father. My sincere condolences to family and friends. Blessed memory to the hero and may he rest in peace,” Deputy Mayor Denis Nesterov noted at the farewell ceremony.
Andrey Stepanov was born in 1999. In 2020, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and then signed a contract and continued to serve. He took part in the special operation from the very beginning – from February 2022. In April 2023, the fighter came on a short vacation to Kamensk-Uralsky, got married, and in June his twins were born – a boy and a girl.
Andrei Stepanov has a medal “For Military Valor”, 1st degree. In addition, for military merits and fulfillment of military duty, he was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
