The Southern Military District Court sentenced a resident of Simferopol, who was preparing a terrorist attack on railway tracks in the north of Crimea and who called for killing Russians, to ten years in a strict regime colony, Kommersant was told in the press service of the court.
According to the case file, in April 2022, a 36-year-old man wanted to undermine the railway lines in the Dzhankoysky district of the peninsula for the derailment of public and freight rail transport in order to intimidate the Russian population, as well as influence decision-making by the Russian authorities. To implement his criminal intent, he purchased the necessary components and made explosive devices from them, but was detained by the FSB officers in time.
During the searches, two improvised explosive devices, two electric detonators, a scheme for laying IEDs under the railway track, as well as extremist literature were confiscated from him. In addition, the security forces established that the detainee was engaged in posting materials on social networks containing calls for terrorist attacks against representatives of the state authorities of the Russian Federation and for the murder of Russians.
A criminal case was opened against a Simferopol resident under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1, art. 205, part 1 of Art. 223.1, part 1 of Art. 222.1, part 2 of Art. 205.2, part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for a terrorist act, illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of explosives and explosive devices, illegal manufacture of explosive devices, public calls for terrorist and extremist activities committed using the Internet information and telecommunications network).
“The court found the defendant guilty on all counts and sentenced him to ten years in prison with a strict regime penal colony with a fine of 220,000 rubles. and a ban on administering websites for two years and six months,” the press service of the court said.
Recall that on May 18, 2023, eight wagons with grain derailed in the Simferopol region due to the undermining of the railway track.
