A case has been brought to court on charges of a Nizhny Novgorod ex-minister of accepting bribes

Former Minister of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Natalya Isaeva will be tried for accepting bribes. She was charged with committing crimes under Parts 4 and 4.6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe by a person holding a public position in a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, and receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).

According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the investigation collected sufficient evidence base, which made it possible to transfer the case to court for consideration on the merits.

As Kommersant wrote, the investigation established that in 2022–2023, the official received a bribe in the form of building materials from the director of one of the orphanages in the Nizhny Novgorod region, after which repairs were made to her apartment. In return, Natalya Isaeva promised the director of the orphanage her patronage. The total cost of the property bribe amounted to more than 1.5 million rubles.

Also in 2023 for 100 thousand rubles. Natalya Isaeva agreed on the transfer of a temporary accommodation center for refugees from a Nizhny Novgorod country club to another premises belonging to the same owner.

The minister was detained by FSB officers, dismissed from her post and placed under house arrest. She admitted her guilt in full.
