Even though the outbreak of the second wave of Corona has reduced in India now. But the country is now preparing itself for the third wave, experts say that children will be most at risk of the third wave of corona. Therefore, the government is already engaged in making all security arrangements. The central government has issued a guideline regarding the treatment of infected children. In which the government has told that children should be avoided from giving steroids. Along with this, it has also been said that to assess the physical ability of the children, it has also been advised to take a walk of 6 minutes. It has also been advised to avoid the use of remdesivir in the guideline.
Do not use Remdesivir
The guidelines recommend not using the antiviral drug remdesivir. At the same time, it has also been said that steroids should also be given only to serious patients with monitoring. Remdesivir is a drug approved for emergency use. There are currently no data on the safety and efficacy of remdesivir in children under 18 years of age. It is worth noting that this test is not recommended for children who have severe asthma.
6 minute walk
The Central Government has said that to check the physical ability of children, they should walk for 6 minutes so that cardio-pulmonary exercise tolerance can be done in them. Children should be asked to walk for 6 minutes by placing a pulse oximeter in their finger. If during this time their oxygen level falls below 94 percent, it also drops by 3-5 percent or difficulty in breathing is seen, then children should be admitted to the hospital on the basis of that.
The Health Ministry said that CT scan has also been advised in the case of children. However, at the same time it has also been said that high resolution CT should be used only after careful consideration. It is worth noting that this test is not recommended for children who have severe asthma.
According to the guidelines of the Central Government, if the corona disease in the child has become severe, then oxygen therapy should be started immediately.
