First patient of Zika virus found in Kanpur

After Kerala, the first patient of Zika virus has been found in Kanpur. This is a 57-year-old Air Force employee, who was admitted to Seven Air Force Hospital on October 19 on symptoms of dengue fever. Two days ago, the sample was sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune due to non-availability of treatment. From where the Zika positive report was received on Saturday. There is a stir in the health department on the information of the first patient of Zika. The patient, 22 people close to him and the staff treating him have been isolated. Samples of all these have also been sent to KGMU Lucknow for investigation.

After receiving the positive report, the Delhi Health Ministry team along with the local team visited the patient’s house. The patient is a resident of Pokharpur (Chakeri). CMO Dr. Naipal Singh has formed two teams. A team headed by ACMO Dr. Subodh Prakash went to Pardevanpur Pokharpur, where samples of 22 people who came in contact with wife and son and daughter in the family were taken. Airforce employee has a son Pune and daughter lives in Bangalore. The second team inspected at Seven Air Force Hospital.

CMO Dr. Naipal Singh says that Zika virus has been confirmed in Airforce personnel. Samples of all the people who came in contact with the patient have been taken. They have been isolated. Kanpur DM Visakh ji said that all necessary steps are being taken in view of the confirmation of the first Zika positive patient. An emergency meeting of the medical college doctors and the municipal team has been called. Special campaign on cleanliness will be conducted.
