Scotland beat Oman by 8 wickets and qualify for Super 12s in T20 World Cup 2021 – Latest Cricket News

Scotland have entered the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup after beating Oman by eight wickets in a Group B match on the back of their bowlers and batsmen. After this victory, Scotland have six points in Group B with three wins from three matches and they are on top of their group. Bangladesh is the second team to reach Super 12 from Group B. Scotland, bowling first, bowled out Oman for 122 and then chased down the target for the loss of two wickets with 18 balls to spare. The top two teams from Group A and Group B were to qualify for the Super 12. Scotland and Bangladesh have been confirmed from Group B, while Sri Lanka are set to qualify for Super 12 from Group A. The Sri Lankan team is at the top of their group with four points from two matches.

Captain Kyle Coetzer top scored for Scotland with 41 runs. He hit two fours and three sixes in 28 balls. Apart from him, Matthew Cross scored an unbeaten 26 off 35 balls while Ricky Borrington scored an unbeaten 31 off the balls with the help of one four and three sixes. Fayaz Butt and Khawar Ali took one wicket each for Oman. After this defeat, Oman’s team was out of the T20 World Cup. Oman finished third in their group and Papua New Guinea at number four. Scotland’s team will now take on India on November 5, on the birthday of captain Virat Kohli.

After a resounding win over Oman, Scotland have become the second team to enter the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2021 from Group B from the qualifying round. Earlier, Oman won the toss and batted first and scored 122 runs. Aaqib Ilyas scored 37 and captain Zeeshan Maqsood scored 34 runs for the team. Apart from him, Mohammad Nadeem scored 25 runs in 21 balls with the help of two sixes. Ilyas hit three fours and two sixes in 35 balls while Maqsood hit three fours and a six in 30 balls. For Scotland, Josh Davy took three wickets while Michael Leask and Shafyan Sharif took two wickets each.
