Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday again made a strong demand for the replacement of Punjab Police Chief and Advocate General from his own party’s government. Sidhu tweeted that “Appointment of DG and AG is salt on the wounds of the victims. They should be replaced.”
His tweets pressuring the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab government to replace the Director General of Police and the state’s Advocate General clearly indicate that he is unhappy with these important appointments.
It comes three days after Navjot Singh Sidhu and Chief Minister Channi met that a coordination panel was set up to consult on all major decisions of the state government.
Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted today that “Our government came to power in 2017 to demand justice and arrest the main culprits of drug trafficking, but the CM had to withdraw as he deviated from the objective. Now AG and DG appointments are wound up on the victims.” But we are sprinkling salt, they should be removed immediately, don’t we have a face!!”
Demand for Justice in Sacrilege cases and for arrest of main culprits behind the drug trade brought our Govt in 2017 & Due to his failure, People removed the last CM. Now, AG / DG appointments rub salt on wounds of victims, they must be replaced or we will have No face !! pic.twitter.com/Bdczzv2vgz

Resigning as Punjab Congress chief a few days back, Navjot Singh Sidhu had raised questions over the appointment of Director General of Police, State Advocate General and “tainted” leaders. Sidhu is demanding the removal of senior IPS officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota. He has been given the additional charge of Director General of Police, Punjab.
Sahota continues to head a Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the then Akali Dal government in 2015. At the same time, Sidhu is also raising questions on the appointment of cricketer-turned-politician AS Deol as the new Advocate General of the state. Deol was the lawyer of former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini after the incidents of police firing in 2015.
On Saturday, Sidhu had said that he would stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi whether they hold any post or not.
Sidhu Sidhu had tweeted on Saturday on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. It was written, “Will uphold the principles of Gandhi ji and Shastri ji. Post or not, he will stand by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. May all negative forces try their best to defeat me, but with positive energy, they will make Punjab win.” !!”
Let us inform that after the power struggle between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Captain Amarinder, the Congress appointed Charanjit Singh Channi as the Chief Minister of Punjab in place of Amarinder Singh. Since then the relationship between Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu is not going well.
