Kanhaiya’s entry into the Congress has created a rift in the relationship between the party and the RJD. Bihar’s main opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Friday took a jibe at Kanhaiya Kumar for joining the Congress, saying that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alumnus Kanhaiya Kumar is like “another Navjot Singh Sidhu” who Will ‘ruin’ the oldest party. Taking a jibe at the Congress for calling it a “sinking ship”, senior RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari said that Kanhaiya’s joining will not make any difference to the party.
Tiwari referred to Kanhaiya’s statement, ‘Congress is a big ship that needs to be saved’. “He is like another Navjot Singh Sidhu who will further ruin the party,” the RJD leader said. The RJD leader told reporters, “Kanhaiya Kumar’s involvement will not make any difference. He cannot save the party. Congress is a sinking ship and it has no future.
RJD sources say that the party is unhappy that Kanhaiya Kumar was inducted into the Congress without consulting Tejashwi Yadav. The Congress is part of the RJD-led opposition alliance ‘Mahagathbandhan’ which contested against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. However, leaders of the Bihar unit of the Congress refused to comment on the matter.
Let us inform that on September 28, Kanhaiya Kumar had joined the Congress. Along with him, independent MLA from Gujarat Jignesh Mevani also joined the Congress ‘ideologically’, however, being an MLA, he will formally join the party in the coming days due to some technical issues. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, both these young leaders met former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and paid tribute to Bhagat Singh by visiting Shaheed Park with him.
