In Jammu and Kashmir, miscreants have once again attacked the faith of Kashmiri Pandits. The temple of Barghasekha Bhavani was attacked in Anantnag on Saturday. During this the temple has been vandalized. Confirming this, the police said that a case has been registered. SIT has been formed for investigation.
The temple of Barghasekha Bhavani is on the Mattan mountain in the Anantnag district of the Kashmir Valley. This is the center of faith of Kashmiri Pandits. The attack on the Barghshikha temple comes at a time when the government is trying to bring back Pandits to the valley.
Confirming the incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “It has been received from reliable sources that the Barghasekha Bhavani temple on Mattan mountain has been desecrated by some miscreants. A case has been registered and an SIT has been formed to investigate.
After getting information about the incident, senior police and administration officials reached the spot and started investigation. Anantnag DCP Piyush Singla said that the guilty will be punished and no one will be allowed to disturb social harmony. “Such acts will not be tolerated and the guilty will be punished under relevant sections of the law,” he said.

National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted condemning the incident. He wrote, “Unacceptable. I strongly condemn this vandalism and appeal to the administration especially J&K Police to identify the culprits and give strict punishment. PDP leader Naeem Akhtar also condemned the incident and demanded strict punishment to the culprits.
