When the Aadhar Card is lost, mutilated or misplaced, then you can also take out its soft copy (e-copy). This work is very simple and can be done sitting at home in few steps. Let us know what is e-Aadhaar and how to get it:

Know E-Aadhaar at a Glance: This is the digital version of your Aadhaar. Soft copy or e-copy. It is fully password protected and is digitally signed by UIDAI.

Is hard copy as valid?: Many people question whether the e-copy of Aadhaar has the same validity as the physical or hard copy? The answer is- yes. As per the Aadhaar Act, e-Aadhaar is the same as the physical copy of Aadhaar for all purposes. Meaning there is no difference between the two. UIDAI has already issued a circular regarding the validity of e-Aadhaar, which is available on the e-Aadhaar website.

What is Mask Base?: Actually, the number which is in the Aadhar card which is called Aadhar number, there is an option to hide it. This option comes only through the mask base.

Download the soft copy of Aadhaar as follows: E-Aadhaar can be downloaded from home from the website uidai.gov.in or eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. To download the digital version from eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, click on ‘My Aadhaar’ at the top of the status bar. Then there the section of Download Aadhaar will open, in which it can be downloaded in three ways.

First through Aadhaar number, second through Enrollment ID and third with the help of Virtual ID. Proceed by selecting one of these items and then choose whether you want a masked base or unmasked. Complete the captcha verification code process, after which click on ‘Send OTP’. As soon as this complete work, one time password will come on your Aadhaar registered mobile number, fill it there then your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded.
