Former JNU Students’ Union president and CPI’s national executive member Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat youth leader Jignesh Mevani’s much-talked-about Congress Yatra is going to be completed on Bhagat Singh Jayanti on September 28. Rahul Gandhi will give party membership to both the leaders in a closed room around 3 pm and his photo and video will be released. However, in the subsequent press conference, Rahul will not accompany him in front of the media.
Congress sources say that the party is taking the process of joining the Congress of Kanhaiya and Jignesh as an opportunity to instill enthusiasm among the youth, but is also taking full precautions. Kanhaiya and Jignesh Mevani will go to Shaheed Park near ITO at 2.30 pm on Tuesday to garland Bhagat Singh’s statue. Although the final decision regarding whether Rahul Gandhi will be with him here is likely to be taken tomorrow only, but it is believed that he will be here with both of them.
After this, Rahul Gandhi will get the membership of the party at 3 o’clock in the Congress headquarters. It is being told that this process of getting membership will not be in front of the media, only its photo or video will be issued to the media. After this there will be a press conference in the Congress office itself at 3.30 pm, in which Kanhaiya and Jignesh will be accompanied by Randeep Singh Surajewala, Hardik Patel and KC Venugopal.
The discussion about Kanhaiya and Jignesh joining the Congress has been going on for almost a month. The Congress is trying to sharpen its attack against Modi by getting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both the leaders who are considered staunch opponents of his policies to be included in the party.
