UPSC CSE Result 2020: Shubham Kumar, a resident of Katihar, Bihar, has topped the country’s prestigious Civil Services Examination 2020. Earlier, Shubham had secured 290th rank in the examination of the year 2019.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the exam results on Friday. Shubham has studied from IIT Mumbai. He is a resident of Kumhari village of Katihar’s Kadwa block. Apart from these, many students of Bihar have performed brilliantly. Praveen, a resident of Chakai, Jamui, has got the seventh rank.
A passout from IIT Kanpur, Jamui K Praveen was selected for the Indian Railways service in 2018. Currently his training is going on in Vadodara. Praveen’s father Sitaram Varnwal runs a drugstore. Praveen did his early education from Ramakrishna Mission, Jasidih. After doing matriculation and inter from CBSE, did engineering from IIT Kanpur. Got success in second attempt in Civil Services.
Earlier in the year 2000, Alok Jha became the topper. At the same time, Sunil Kumar Barnwal of Gaya held the top position in 1997. Aamir Subhani topped in 1987. Who is currently the development commissioner of Bihar. So far, four meritorious candidates from Bihar have topped the UPSC. In the year 2020, Jagriti Awasthi and Ankita Jain secured the second and third positions respectively.
A total of 761 candidates have qualified in this exam. Of these, 545 are male and 216 are female candidates. UPSC conducts civil services examinations every year in three phases, which include preliminary examination, main examination and interview. Through these exams, candidates are selected for various other services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).
