After losing the chief minister’s chair in Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh is in a fighting mood. Till now only he had been targeting Navjot Singh Sidhu, but today he has also targeted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. In a scathing manner, Captain Amarinder today termed Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi as inexperienced and said they were being misled by their advisors. At the same time, he declared that he would neither allow Navjot Singh Sidhu to win nor let him become the Chief Minister at any cost. Overall, today by attacking Sidhu and referring to Rahul Gandhi-Priyanka Gandhi, he showed rebellious attitude against Congress.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday termed Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as “inexperienced” and said he would field a strong candidate against Punjab unit Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu in the upcoming assembly polls. It is noteworthy that due to factionalism and internal strife in the Punjab unit of Congress, Amarinder Singh had recently resigned from the post of Chief Minister of the state.
Amarinder Singh said in many of his interviews, ‘Priyanka and Rahul are like my children. It should not have been like this. I am upset.’ “I did not take the MLAs by plane to Goa or any other place,” he said in a statement. This is not how I work. I don’t gimmick and the Gandhi sibling knows it’s not my way.’
Amarinder Singh insisted that the ‘Gandhi children’ are largely ‘inexperienced’ and their advisors are clearly ‘misleading’ them. He said he would try his best to stop Sidhu from reaching the chief minister’s post. The former chief minister said that he is ready to make any sacrifice to save the country from such a “dangerous person”. He said that he would field a strong candidate to ensure the defeat of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President (Sidhu) in the 2022 assembly elections.
Amarinder Singh said that he had even told Congress President Sonia Gandhi that he was ready to quit for someone else after another landslide victory for the Congress in the next assembly elections in Punjab. He said, ‘But it did not happen, so I will fight.’ The former chief minister had secretly called a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party and expressed strong protest over ‘humiliating’ him.
Amarinder Singh said that he is keeping his political options open and discussing with his friends before deciding the future course of action. “You can be old at 40 and young at 80,” he said. Singh made it clear that he does not consider his age as a barrier. Let us inform that even in the past, Amarinder had expressed his displeasure to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. But now the question is, what will Congress do? In view of the elections to be held next year, if the Congress takes some action against the Captain, then it should not backfire. It will be interesting to see how Congress reduces the edge of Captain’s attitude.
