Heroin worth Rs 9000 crore seizes at Mundra Port

Huge consignment of heroin has been caught at Mundra Port in Kutch, Gujarat. The value of the drugs seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is said to be around Rs 9000 crore. Around 3000 kg heroin has been seized in two containers at the port. Along with this, two people have also been arrested.

The government agency said the heroin, which was placed in two containers carrying talc. The DRI said a consignment of about 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) of heroin in one container and about 1,000 kg in the other had come from Afghanistan and was shipped from a port in Iran to Gujarat.

After getting a huge consignment of heroin, the investigating agency, which came into action, has conducted searches in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Gandhidham and Mandvi in ​​Gujarat. A special court on Monday remanded the South Indian couple, arrested in connection with the recovery of heroin from the Mundra port, to a 10-day remand for further investigation and questioning by the Directorate of Intelligence and Revenue.

DRI’s counsel KC Goswami told reporters that this heroin, imported in two containers through Iran’s Bandar Abbas port, was imported by a Vijayawada-based company named M/s Ashi Traders in the name of Telkom Stone, its owner Machavaram Sudhakar and his Wife cum partner Durgapurna Vaishali was arrested on September 17 itself. He has been brought to the Kutch district of Gujarat on transit remand and kept in judicial custody in the jail.
