Ukrainian intelligence blackmailed a participant in the explosion of a gas pipeline in Crimea, threatening to kill his children, said one of the detainees, Asan Akhtemov, during an operational video released by the FSB.
“Until the day the crime was committed, I didn’t know what would need to be done. On that day, people from Ukraine called me and threatened me. there is a nut at home. The next time you look out, your children will be hanging there, “he said.
According to him, it was not money, but concern for loved ones that made him commit a crime.

As follows from the footage released by the Krym24 TV channel, he, without holding back tears, turned to the Crimean Tatars with the words: “These (Ukrainian intelligence officers. – Ed.) The sabotage took place on August 23: attackers blew up a gas pipeline in the mountainous part of the region, which is used to supply the village of Perevalnoye and the military unit. His work was restored the next day.
In early September, the FSB detained three suspects: an intermediary – the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People * Nariman Dzhelyalov and the direct executors – Asan and Aziz Akhtemovs.
According to intelligence agencies, in June the performers traveled to Ukraine, where they were trained in explosives. They were promised about two thousand dollars for completing the assignment.
The explosive device was delivered to Crimea in July. The action was planned to coincide with the Independence Day of Ukraine. Earlier, Aziz Akhtemov said that the explosives that were transported to Crimea were hidden in the cheese.
The sabotage was sanctioned by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov – a participant in an unsuccessful action in 2016, during which he killed an employee of the FSB of Russia, the Russian special service reported. The organizers were also the GUR agent Riza Yagyaev-Veliulaev, as well as his curators: Ukrainian military intelligence officer Maxim Martynyuk and his immediate superior, head of the Tavria operational service, Viktor Zelinsky.
