Senator Pushkov: the United States has nothing to do with Nord Stream 2
Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel said that the United States is once again expressing dissatisfaction over the Nord Stream 2 project and intends to oppose it.
However, the politician noted that Washington has nothing to do with the project and cannot decide whether this deal is bad or not. “After Afghanistan, one should understand that one should not try to interfere everywhere and crush everything under oneself,” advised Pushkov.
He recalled that the United States tried to prevent Turkey from buying the S-400 systems from Russia, also considering it a bad deal. “It is known how it ended – Turkey has not abandoned the systems,” the senator recalled, noting that there are other cases that show that pressure from Washington is no longer a reason for other countries to act contrary to their interests.
Earlier, the US State Department said that the US authorities still consider the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project a bad deal and will oppose it. According to Jalina Porter, deputy head of the State Department’s press service, the United States has spoken about this before and will continue to talk about it again.
The construction of both strings of the gas pipeline was completed on Friday morning, September 10. This was announced at 8:45 Moscow time by the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller. To start deliveries, commissioning and certification of the pipeline should be carried out.
