The US eliminated IS militants in Afghanistan during special operation

The Pentagon said the United States conducted a special operation against a militant of the Islamic State in Khorasan, an offshoot of the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) terrorist organization, which was responsible for organizing the attacks. This is reported by TASS with reference to the representative of the US Central Command, William Urban.

According to preliminary data from the US ministry, the IS member was eliminated with the help of an unmanned aerial vehicle. No civilian casualties were reported.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden gave the US Army “all the necessary leeway” for operations against the Islamic State in Afghanistan. At a meeting with the head of state, the security forces also informed President and Vice President Kamala Harris that a new attack was highly likely in Kabul, but they took maximum measures to protect the airport.

“We will not forgive this, we will not forget this. We will find you and destroy you. You will pay for everything. Our people and our safety are the main priority of my team, ”said the American leader, commenting on the involvement of IS in the terrorist attacks at the Kabul airport.

A series of explosions occurred near the Kabul airport on August 26. The attack killed about 200 people, including two Britons and 13 American soldiers. The United States has not suffered such one-time losses in Afghanistan since 2011.
