Lisa Young, a nutritionist from the United States, listed five diets that, from her point of view, are useless for weight loss, writes the She Finds website.
According to the expert, these include low-carb and sirtuin diets, intermittent fasting, as well as Whole30 and Optavia.
According to Young, a low-carb keto diet can help you shed those extra pounds, but the results don’t last long. Moreover, if you stick to it for a long time, then there is a possibility of a reduction in muscle mass.
On a sirtuin diet, only foods rich in sirtuin proteins (such as parsley, blueberries, apples, and green tea) should be consumed. At certain stages, you have to limit yourself to 1000 kilocalories per day, which is not only difficult but also dangerous, the nutritionist noted. For a similar reason, she advises against the Optavia weight loss program, which limits the amount of food consumed.
Fans of intermittent fasting alternate between days with the usual diet and fasting days, during which it is necessary to abstain from food or eat several times less than usual. The Whole30 Diet prohibits the consumption of sugar, alcohol, grains, and dairy products, as well as legumes and soy. Young believes that such strict restrictions are simply impossible to comply with.
“I prefer a positive approach to lose weight. Enjoy the food you love and think about healthy food that you can add to your diet, ”concluded the nutritionist.
