AKP spokesman Omer Celik: Turkey will not be able to accept a single refugee from Afghanistan

Turkey is unable to accept a single refugee from Afghanistan, said Omer Celik, a spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the country.

The situation in Afghanistan has become particularly acute in recent weeks when Taliban * militants launched a rapid offensive across the country and occupied all border crossings, and on August 15 entered Kabul and took the presidential palace.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country, citing his desire to “prevent the massacre.” On the night of August 16, a representative of the Taliban political office, Mohammad Naim, said that the war in Afghanistan was over, and the form of government in the state would become clear in the near future.

“Turkey is not a refugee camp. We no longer have the opportunity to accept even one refugee (from Afghanistan). We ourselves will make decisions. We guard our borders very carefully,” Celik told reporters.
According to him, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is in favor of finding a comprehensive solution to the crisis in Afghanistan.

“He conducts intensive international diplomacy – he discussed the situation in Afghanistan with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel. We are closely monitoring the topic of human rights in Afghanistan, which has come under the control of the Taliban *. there is a real drama going on there, “added Celik.
