The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova, commenting on the upcoming summit “Crimean Platform”, said that this “gathering” would be devoted to politics, and not to the realities of Crimea.
Summit “Crimean Platform” at the initiative of Ukraine will be held in Kiev on 23 August. It will discuss the issue of “returning” control over Crimea. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, 44 countries and international organizations, including the Turkish ambassador, will take part in the summit. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the upcoming meeting a sabbath, at which “the West will continue to nurture neo-Nazi, racist sentiments of the modern Ukrainian government.”
“This is very indicative. We have repeatedly recorded the politicized approach of the collective West to Ukrainian topics. And again, it seems to me, this is one more proof that the whole story with this gathering will not be about the realities and not about the reality of today’s Crimea. about the analysis already in the historical perspective of what happened in 2014: there are no preconditions, facts, results. Everything will be focused on the information and political component. After all, these are the same Western countries that do not want to know anything about today’s Crimea either. “, – she said in an interview with Gazeta.ru.
According to her, these countries take a principled position on their own non-presence on the peninsula: they do not visit, they do not want to come into direct contact with residents.
“Moreover, they also do not allow their tourists, journalists, their companies, their businesses to interact with these regions of Russia – Crimea and Sevastopol. Actually, as they did not let Crimeans into their countries, denying them EU visas. Apparently, they decided to punish thus, citizens for their free expression of will, “she stressed.
“In order to understand how and how Crimea lives, you just need to come there. Instead of pretending that the Crimean theme is important, going to places that have nothing to do with Crimea,” Zakharova summed up.
