After a sudden meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Yogi Adityanath, who arrived in the capital on a two-day visit amid political speculation in UP, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. It is believed that Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda today (Friday). Just a few days ago, BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh and the party’s state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh had visited Lucknow and reviewed the party’s preparations for next year’s assembly elections. During this, both the leaders had met the ministers of the state government and key officials of the organization.
After this, the speculation of cabinet expansion in the state has once again intensified after Adityanath’s sudden arrival in Delhi and meeting the central leaders. These speculations were further strengthened when sources claimed that Nadda met Prime Minister Modi and former Union minister Jitin Prasada, who had joined the BJP a day earlier, met Chief Minister Adityanath.
No official information was given about the meeting between Nadda and the prime minister, but Prasad termed his meeting with the chief minister as a courtesy call. AK Sharma, a former administrative officer and member of the Legislative Council, who recently joined the BJP, is also in Delhi. Sources say that he met some central leaders of the party. Sharma is considered close to Prime Minister Modi.
No official information was given by BJP leaders or senior party functionaries about this round of meetings, but sources claimed that this exercise is about the induction of some other leaders including Prasad and Sharma in the Uttar Pradesh government. Prasad is from a well-known Brahmin family of the state, while Sharma belongs to the Bhumihar community.
Meanwhile, according to information received from sources, Adityanath is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nadda on Friday. After meeting Shah, Adityanath tweeted, “Today received his guidance from Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a courtesy call in New Delhi. Hearty thanks to the Home Minister for giving his valuable time for the visit. Along with the tweet, Adityanath also shared a picture in which he is seen handing over a copy of the “Solution to Migrant Crisis Report” to Shah.
According to sources, during the meeting with Shah, which lasted for about one and a half years, Adityanath also discussed other political issues including the second wave of Kovid-19 in the state. Apna Dal President and former Union Minister Anupriya Patel also reached Shah’s residence when Shah and Adityanath’s meeting was going on. Shah tweeted the details of the meeting with Adityanath and Patel and also shared pictures. Nishad Party President Sanjay Kumar Nishad from Uttar Pradesh and Sant Kabirnagar MP Praveen Nishad also met Shah.
Amit Shah’s meeting with Patel and Nishad Party leaders is being seen as an attempt by the BJP to woo allies ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Patel was a minister in the central government during Prime Minister Modi’s first term, but when he became the Prime Minister for the second time, he did not give the Apna Dal leader a place in his cabinet.
Amidst these meetings, former IAS officer Sharma also met prominent leaders of the Nishad Party. After this, he tweeted and said, ‘Good luck meeting with Sanjay Kumar Nishad, the favorite leader of Nishad society, party supremo and political ‘Gadfather’ of fishermen society, and Praveen Nishad, a popular MP from Sant Kabir Nagar. We will work together for the development of the people of these societies. This round of meetings in Delhi is being considered very important in view of next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
