Xiaomi 200W Fast Charging System

Is fast charging good? There are always two answers to this. Those who agree will justify a shorter waiting period, while those who disagree will point to battery longevity as the main reason. Well, Xiaomi seems to have revealed the truth behind its 200W charging system for both the groups, which is surprising. The company took to the Chinese social media website to try to explain how its system differs from everyone else’s.

Xiaomi has released some shocking figures for us for its 200W system. The company says that the 4000mAh capacity battery from this system can be fully charged in just 8 minutes, which also beats the previous world record of 15 minutes set by Xiaomi’s 120W system. This means that when you are busy working on your phone, there will be fewer rounds of the socket.

Is there a battery saver 200W charging system?
There is no doubt that the fast charging system comes with some side effects, as was seen with the previous system as well. It was being said that using the 200W system causes the battery to wear out faster than usual. Xiaomi has now clarified this confusion. The company says that its 200W system damages the capacity of a battery as much as a regular 5W charger does in two years.

Xiaomi says that its technology will reduce battery capacity by only 20 percent in 800 cycles. Those 800 cycles require a full charge, not a quick top-up. Broadly speaking, your phone’s battery will be able to retain more than 80 percent of its capacity over a period of two years.

However, this shouldn’t matter to most users, as most people don’t use their phones for more than two years. Also, companies like Xiaomi are putting bigger batteries in their phones to compensate for higher power consumption 5G connections and high refresh rate displays. Hence, an average phone like Redmi Note 10 Pro Max with 5020mAh battery will still have around 4000mAh capacity after two years.

While Xiaomi doesn’t reveal how it does it, it seems that the company has been able to dissipate the heat effectively. Heat is the main reason for your phone’s battery to deteriorate over time. The less heat your battery generates, the better for its longevity.

At the moment the 120W system is limited to the Mi 10 Special Edition only in China
It remains to be seen when Xiaomi makes the 200W system commercially available on its phones. The Mi 11 Ultra currently uses a 67W fast charging solution while the 120W system was reserved only for the Mi 10 Special Edition in China. Xiaomi is also developing an under-display camera technology which is expected to debut next year.
