Skyquake: Skies trembling in California, Mexico, people frightened by the sound of explosions

It is likely that such an explosion was caused by a jet plane breaking the sound barrier. Actually, when a jet flies faster than the speed of sound, there is such an explosion which is called Sonic Boom.

A loud bang was heard in California and Mexico on Tuesday evening. This was the third such incident since February which is now being considered like an earthquake. Sonic boom was the reason behind this ‘skyquake’ but officials are not saying anything concrete about it. The explosion was so strong that the houses shook and the animals started screaming. Due to this people started to feel the fear of earthquake.

According to a report in DailyMail, an unidentified plane was sighted in San Diego County, shortly after which an explosion was heard. In the flight tracking data, the data of aircraft going between an altitude of 20 thousand to 25 thousand feet has been found, whose speed would have been 1112 mph.

Earlier on March 10, a similar explosion was heard. After Tuesday’s incident, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria said on Twitter that he also heard the sound but did not know what it was.

When the speed of something is more than the speed of sound or sound, then it is called supersonic speed. The speed of sound in vacuum is 332 meters per second. When something moves at a speed more than 332 meters per second, it is called supersonic speed.

When an aircraft travels faster than the speed of sound, it produces a sonic boom. A large amount of sound energy is produced. Because of which no sound is heard before the arrival of the plane, but only after the plane passes, there is a sound like a loud bang.
