An advertisement of China’s famous Nanjing University has created a ruckus. In this advertisement, the university has resorted to sexual content and girls to attract children. Seeing the growing controversy, the university has removed this advertisement.
A top Chinese university is using women in online sexual ads to woo students. After which there has been a ruckus in the whole country regarding this sexual advertisement. Critics say that this university is making objectionable use of women to get children admitted in its schools.
Nanjing University used obscene advertisements
Nanjing University (NJU) posted this obscene advertisement on Weibo on the first day of China’s National College Entrance Test ‘Gaokao Exam’. The advertisement featured six photographs of existing students in front of different parts of the campus. In this, banners were held in the hands of the students to attract the students. In which many types of slogans were written to woo the students.
Most uproar over two pictures of women
Two of these pictures are getting the most criticism, in which a beautiful woman is standing with a poster in her hand. The poster reads “Do you want to be with me in the library from morning till night?” At the same time, the poster of the other woman’s hand reads, “Do you want me to be a part of your youth?” There is a lot of opposition to the use of women in such advertisements.
University on target of Chinese social media users
However, the banners the men were holding did not bear any obscene words. A male participant’s banner read “Do you want to be an honest, hardworking and ambitious NJU student?” As soon as this advertisement was released, there was a ruckus on Chinese social media. A large number of people are asking Nanjing University to apologize for such advertisements.
University removed advertisement after controversy
Chengyusan, an NGO fighting against gender-based violence against women, has garnered the most protests against these ads. After which the Nanjing University administration has removed these advertisements. The university has not yet issued any clarification regarding this advertisement. Still, a large number of people are criticizing this university on social media.
